Oblicza polskiego wolontariatu poznać można w oparciu o wyniki sondażu “Polski wolontariusz – idealista czy pragmatyk” CBOS, Departamentu Pożytku Publicznego, Ministerstwa Pracy i Polityki Społecznej oraz  Instytutu Spraw Publicznych. To badania opinii publicznej, poświęcone zaangażowaniu Polaków w wolontariat, społecznemu wizerunkowi wolontariusza oraz założenia do długofalowej polityki w zakresie rozwoju wolontariatu w Polsce opracowywanej przez Ministerstwo Pracy i Polityki Społecznej.

Moja perspektywa wolontariatu w Polsce w ostatnich latach utwierdza mnie w przekonaniu, że wolontariat jest w naszym kraju dwubiegunowy. Jeden biegun przepełniony jest stanem głębokiego smutku, cierpienia, trudów losu, wytrwałości, empatii, poświęcenia i bohaterskich ludzi, których to dotyczy. To miejsce dla wytrwałych, długodystansowych, dojrzałych nie koniecznie wiekiem, ale na pewno dojrzałych emocjonalnie ludzi, dla dawców swojej energii i potencjału.
Drugi biegun przepełniony jest stanem euforycznego podniecenia, szybkich efektów, szybkiej akcji, gdzie uwalniane są hormony szczęścia. To miejsce szczególnie dla młodych, kreatywnych, sprawczych, czerpiących siłę, pewność, świadomość i wiarę.

To jednak w dużej części stereotypy, które nami nadal rządzą, schematy postępowania, które nie jest łatwo przekraczać.
Na pewno oba bieguny są ważne, nie podlegają ocenie, są kompatybilne. Ale przed nami podróż w stronę równika. Jeszcze nie widać pionierów.
