„Work – life balance”. To pojęcie, które może nieść ze sobą różne konotacje – w zależności od perspektywy patrzenia. Inne mogą być skojarzenia i doświadczenia pracownika/pracowniczki, inne pracodawcy, a jeszcze inne przedstawiciela HR czy specjalisty ds. CSR. „Tak pracuję, że mam jeszcze czas na swoje życie” – być może w taki sposób odpowiedziałby przysłowiowy Kowalski zapytany o pojęcie „work-life balance”.
Dla części społeczeństwa z pewnością jednak termin ten nadal pozostaje obcy, niezrozumiały. I choć o równowadze w pracy i życiu mówi się coraz więcej, to jednak wspieranie takiej koncepcji przez pracodawców nie jest standardem. Nie chodzi zresztą wyłącznie o samo popieranie takiej idei, żonglowanie pomysłami i funkcjonowanie strategii tylko na piśmie. Na nic się to wszystko zda, jeśli faktycznie nie będzie szczerej wiary w sens idei równowagi po obydwu stronach – i pracownika, i pracodawcy. Potrzebna jest więc mentalna zmiana, budowanie świadomości, że warto dążyć do równowagi, nie zapominając przy tym o rozwoju osobistym, który może odbywać się zarówno na polu zawodowym, jak i osobistym. Celem nie powinno więcbyć oddzielanie grubą kreską tych dwóch obszarów, a umiejętne ich łączenie ze sobą, przeplatanie, wzajemne uzupełnianie.
